Journey through THE QURAN
Continuing Tafsir of Surah Al-Baqarah
Narrated by Abu Musa:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
"The believer who recites the Qur’an and acts upon it is like a citron, its taste is good and its smell is good. The believer who does not recite the Qur’an and does not act upon it is like a date, its taste is good but it has no smell. The hypocrite who recites the Qur’an is like basil, its smell is pleasant but its taste is bitter. The hypocrite who does not recite the Qur’an is like colocynth, its taste is bitter - or bad - and its smell is bitter.”
(Hadith: Sahih al-Bukhari 5059 - Book 66, Hadith 84)
The only way we can act on the Quran is by understanding it and reflecting on its meanings. As Allah says:
سُوۡرَةُ محَمَّد:
أَفَلَا يَتَدَبَّرُونَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ أَمۡ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبٍ أَقۡفَالُهَآ (٢٤)
Surah Muhammad (47:24)
"Do they not then think deeply in the Qur'ân, or are their hearts locked up (from understanding it)?"
